Optavia: A proven framework built on personalized coaching.

There's no one-size-fits-all path to health. But there are systems that make the journey simpler.


For the past five years, Optavia has helped me reclaim control of my health and given me clarity and confidence.


The four components of the OPTAVIA program for "Lifelong Transformation" are the OPTAVIA Coach, the Habits of Health Transformational System, the OPTAVIA Community, and the OPTAVIA products and plans.


1. OPTAVIA coach A personal OPTAVIA Coach is a key element of the program, providing one-on-one, personalized support. The coach is an independent contractor who has been through the program themselves and is meant to provide guidance, motivation, and accountability to help clients set and achieve their health and wellness goals.


2. Habits of Health Transformational System This system is the program's educational component, featuring resources developed by co-founder Dr. Wayne Scott Andersen. It includes a "LifeBook" and other tools designed to help you create and maintain healthy habits, focusing on six main areas: 

  • Healthy weight
  • Healthy eating and hydration
  • Healthy motion
  • Healthy sleep and energy management
  • Healthy mindset
  • Healthy surroundings


3. The OPTAVIA community The OPTAVIA community is a supportive network of like-minded people who are also on their health journey. This social component provides encouragement, inspiration, and connection through various forums, including virtual events and online groups.


4. OPTAVIA products and plans These are the nutritional framework of the program, which combines specially formulated OPTAVIA Fuelings with homemade Lean & Green meals. There are several plans available depending on your health goals, such as: 

  • Optimal Weight 5 & 1 Plan: Five OPTAVIA Fuelings and one Lean & Green meal each day.
  • Optimal Weight 4 & 2 & 1 Plan: Four OPTAVIA Fuelings, two Lean & Green meals, and one healthy snack each day.
  • Optimal Health 3 & 3 Plan: Three OPTAVIA Fuelings and three Lean & Green meals each day, designed for weight maintenance.

The first iteration of the Habits of Health System launched more than a decade ago when Dr. Wayne Scott Andersen (Dr. A) left his role as a critical care physician to build a new, more effective way to transform the lives of individuals around the world. Instead of focusing on sick-care, Dr. A developed an accessible, field-proven approach for reaching a healthy weight and unlocking the habits that make health vibrant and sustainable. 

The Optavia Trilogy Wheel

 The OPTAVIA Trilogy Wheel is a concept that promotes achieving optimal health through three interconnected areas: a healthy body, a healthy mind, and healthy finances. It's a framework that goes beyond just weight loss, suggesting that balancing all three components is crucial for overall well-being. The idea is that if one area is out of balance, it can negatively affect the others. 

  • Healthy Body: This refers to physical health, which includes reaching a healthy weight and adopting healthy habits, and often involves the OPTAVIA program's meal plans and Fuelings.
  • Healthy Mind: This focuses on mental and emotional well-being, including your mindset, habits, and overall outlook.
  • Healthy Finances: This component addresses financial health and stability, emphasizing that financial well-being is a key part of a person's overall health and that it can impact other areas of life.
